The Unsolved Series on ID Will Put Cold Cases To Rest

Cold cases plague investigators long after retirement, according to the Richard Price novel The Whites. Cops go over the evidence of some haunting cases as if the victims were part of their family. Investigation Discovery will try to put some of them to bed on their new true-crime series The Unsolved, which got the green light for an April premiere, according to Deadline.

The Unsolved comes from the same producers who brought Is O.J. Innocent? The Missing Evidence to broadcast.

“After the success of our OJ special event, we knew that our viewers would embrace the tenacity of Derrick and Kris to give fresh perspective on these tragic crimes where the victims’ families have had no closure and the killers remain at-large,” Henry Schleiff, the Group President of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel and Destination America, said.

Police Sergeant Derrick Levasseur, out of Rhode Island, and Forensic Psychologist Kris Mohandie will

The Bizarre Unsolved Murder of Harry Dean Stanton’s Niece

On October 27, 1961, 19-year-old Kentuckian Betty Gail Brown was found dead in her car, strangled by her own brassiere. The mysterious murder became Kentucky’s most famous cold case.

Brown was your typical girl. She lived in Lexington with her insurance salesman father Hargus Brown and homemaker mother Quincy Stanton Brown (the sister of recently deceased character actor Harry Dean Stanton), while she attended nearby Transylvania University. She was popular on campus, described as likable and attractive by friends, and had no known enemies, which all helped to make her murder even more shocking.

In 1965, an alcoholic drifter named Alex Arnold claimed to have committed the crime. He made his confession while in police custody in Oregon for being intoxicated in public. He gave his statement while suffering from withdrawal symptoms and displaying suicidal tendencies. Despite the initial confession, Arnold eventually recanted his story. He was

First publication from Maintenance Ends Press to spotlight unsolved Evelyn Hartley case

For more than six decades, the unsolved disappearance of Evelyn Hartley has mesmerized and perplexed the La Crosse community and beyond, sparking a book, CNN iReport and continued news coverage.

Now, the case is being re-imagined by author Rick Harsch in “Voices After Evelyn,” the first novel to be published by the Midwest-centric Maintenance Ends Press.

“It’s the case in La Crosse crime,” said Harsch, 58, of Izola, Slovenia, and formerly of La Crosse. “It seemed to resonate through the whole town.”

On Oct. 24, 1953, Hartley, 15, a sophomore at Central High School, vanished from the Hoeschler Drive home of UW-La Crosse professor Viggo Rasmussen, whose 20-month-old baby she was caring for. After Evelyn failed to check in with her parents at 8:30 p.m., Hartley’s father discovered the baby sleeping, a stepladder propped against an open basement window of the Rasmussen home, and Evelyn’s glasses, shoes and blood on the floor. Police
