Full Frame ’18: Joe Berlinger to curate; Jehane Noujaim honored with Tribute award

Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Joe Berlinger has been chosen to curate the Thematic Program for the 2018 edition of the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival.

This year’s Thematic Program will focus on the true crime genre, featuring films that follow individual cases that consider the ways in which the documentary field represents “the complexities, and limitations, of the American judicial system.”

Berlinger (pictured) will draw from his past projects – including Brother’s Keeper, Paradise Lost and Cold Blooded: The Clutter Family Murders – as well as the works of other filmmakers in the genre to explore the themes of crime and punishment.

Past curators for Full Frame’s Thematic Program include Amir Bar-Lev, R.J. Cutler, Chris Hegedus, Steve James, D.A. Pennebaker and Lucy Walker.

Ariana Grande Posts Birthday Tribute to Manchester Victim Saffie Roussos: ‘We’re [Thinking] of You Baby’

Ariana Grande posted a tribute to the youngest victim of the May 22 Manchester suicide bombing in recognition of what would have been Saffie Roussos’ ninth birthday, which was Tuesday.

“Saffie, we’re [thinking] of you baby,” the pop star wrote Wednesday night, alongside an emoji of a birthday cake.

Saffie was one of 22 victims killed after a suicide bomber detonated an explosive as concertgoers were leaving Grande’s packed show. More than 250 were injured, including 23 critically.

Saffie’s mother Lisa was among those injured in the bombing and had been in a coma. Many feared that Lisa did not know her daughter
