On Wednesday, February 14, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Steve “Scof” Schofield, Co-Founder/Managing Director of Modop Films, will conduct a book signing of “Scof on Scof: A Colorful Arrangement of True Crime Stories,” at The Mob Museum in Las Vegas. The date marks the 89th anniversary of the infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre and the sixth anniversary of the Museum, which will debut brand-new exhibits that day and offer free admission for Nevada residents and buy-one, get-one admission for non-residents. For those unable to travel to the event, “Scof on Scof” – the podcast presented by Schofield’s Flowers and hosted by Schofield – will broadcast via Facebook Live 8:15 a.m. on Feb. 1 in collaboration with the Museum.

CMJ teams with journalist Steve Miller on true crime series

author_steve_millerCanada-based production company CMJ Productions has signed a development deal with veteran journalist and author Steve Miller to create and produce original true crime series.

Miller (left), author of eight books, including four true crime titles, has over 22 years as a street beat reporter, covering everything from murder and terrorism, to government malfeasance. He has served as a correspondent for The Daily Beast and People Magazine and was honoured as an Edgar Award finalist for his 2011 book, Girl, Wanted: The Chase for Sarah Pender.

Commenting on the new partnership, CMJ Productions president Judith Beauchemin said: “CMJ is thrilled to be working with Steve to leverage his unique access and distinct POV and generate exciting true crime programming. With our expertise in crime-based TV and Steve’s probing perspective, we look forward to producing compelling, addictive and one-of-a-kind series for the international marketplace.”

While the nature of the shows is yet to be determined, the series will be unscripted and will tap into Miller’s experience in true crime.

Miller, who has authored eight books, including four true crime titles, has over 22 years of experience as a street beat reporter, covering everything from murder and terrorism, to government malfeasance.

He served as a national correspondent for The Daily Beast, People Magazine and U.S. News and World Report. He won the 2011 Society of American Business Editors and Writers Best in Business Award for investigative journalism.

In 2012 he was honored as an Edgar Award finalist (Best Fact Crime category) for the book, Girl, Wanted: The Chase for Sarah Pender, which explored the murderous escapades of the women dubbed the female Charles Manson.
