Petit Family Murders Featured on People Magazine Investigates …

By all accounts, the Petits of Cheshire, Connecticut, were the model of the perfect family: An accomplished doctor and a pediatric nurse, well-liked in the community, raising two bright daughters — the elder one, 17, preparing to follow her father to Dartmouth, and the younger one, 11, already discovering a passion for cooking.

But that sweet tableau was shattered on July 23, 2007, when Jennifer Hawke-Petit and kids Hayley and Michaela were murdered in cold blood by two men who broke into the family home in the middle of the night and held them hostage for hours.

Only the father, Dr. William Petit Jr., survived, having been beaten and locked in the basement, emerging as the police arrived to find his house in flames and his family gone.

What began with a chance encounter ended with a horrifying tale of extortion, sexual assault and murder that shook a sleepy suburb

Ricky Martin graces the cover of Ocean Drive Magazine – 7News – WSVN

The October issue of Ocean Drive Magazine is usually Lynn’s favorite issue of the year because they always show hot guys with big biceps. Deco caught up with this year’s cover boy, who is none other than the man who got us all to shake our bon-bons — Ricky Martin.

Ricky Martin is no stranger to Miami.

Ricky Martin: “When I hear Miami, I go back home.”

And let’s just say gracing the cover of Ocean Drive Magazine is not exactly new for him.

Ricky Martin: “It’s not my first time though, and I’m really happy that they called me again.”

Ricky’s favorite look is the cover, but how does his sound to get us livin’ la vida loca?

Ricky Martin: “I felt like a pimp, and I acted out the pimp, and it felt good.”

There was nothing but love for Ricky on the red carpet at the W Hotel on South Beach as the mag

I Bought Poets And Writers Magazine And All I Found Was This Lousy Resistance

I’m a sucker for cheap magazine introductory offers. Don’t ask why. Some dimensions of our inner lives ought to remain unexplored. But it is how I wound up with a subscription to Poets Writers.

You know, the magazine cover that vacillates between close-ups of writers affecting vulnerable yet distracted looks, and an eye-singeing red announcing “WINNING CONTESTS: MORE THAN 100 TO ENTER NOW.” Maybe you’ve seen it in a bookstore. Maybe you avoided it.

Anyhow, like most of my ideas, it sounded good at the time. I assure you I was not drunk when I returned the little postcard for a one-year subscription at $9.95. Even at 80 percent advertising it seemed a bargain. That’s an exaggeration. At best, it wasn’t a mistake.

Or so I thought. The May/June issue arrived with the usual lineup of writing prompts, advice, and author interviews. Like something out of Marvel Comics’ uber-unsuccessful DiversityVerse, the headliners
