Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese reuniting for true-crime …

Now that he has his Oscar, Leonardo DiCaprio can start making fun movies that are just excuses to hang out with his pals. Case in point, Variety is reporting that DiCaprio will soon be reuniting with his old friend Marty—a.k.a. acclaimed director Martin Scorsese—for an adaptation of true-crime thriller Killers Of The Flower Moon: The Osage Murders And The Birth Of The FBI. Of course, as hinted by the title, this doesn’t sound like a particularly fun movie, but at least Leo and Marty will be able to talk about how much they enjoyed making The Departed, Shutter Island, and The Wolf Of Wall Street together.

The book is set in the 1920s, and it’s about a series of murders in Oklahoma targeting members of the Osage nation who recently discovered oil underneath their land. The mystery was one of the then-nascent FBI’s first big homicide cases,

Leonardo DiCaprio Is Developing Two New Projects, and They’re Both True-Crime Dramas

Quentin Tarantino might be working on a new film based on the Tate-LaBianca murders by the Manson family, but he’s not the only director pivoting into true crime. Now, actor Leonardo DiCaprio and director Martin Scorsese are teaming up for two new true-crime projects based on books: adaptations of Erik Larson’s The Devil in the White City and The Lost City of Z writer David Grann’s Killers of the Flower Moon.

Scorsese is currently working on his upcoming film, The Irishman, which he’ll begin filming with Robert DeNiro and Joe Pesci in September, but his longtime production designer Dante Ferretti

Leonardo DiCaprio, Martin Scorsese Teaming Up Again for New Movie (EXCLUSIVE)

ROME — Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are developing a film adaptation of true-crime thriller “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” as the director’s next project after “The Irishman.”

Scorsese’s longtime production designer, Dante Ferretti, told Variety that Scorsese hoped to start shooting “Flower Moon” in the spring of next year. The project is based on the bestselling book by David Grann, a staff writer for the New Yorker and author of “The Lost City of Z.”

Rights to “Flower Moon” were snapped up by Imperative last year for a reported $5 million, and a script has reportedly been drafted by veteran Oscar-winning scribe Eric Roth (“Forrest Gump,” “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”).

Ferretti, who has worked with Scorsese on nine movies from “The Age of Innocence” through “Silence,” said he was going

Despite just recently being published on April 18, the sordid details of the book — a murder conspiracy set in a 1920s Native American reservation — sparked a $5 million bidding war.

The U.K. Telegraph offered the following synopsis

Grann’s non-fiction work, which hit shelves last week, documents the string of murders which plagued the Osage Indian tribe in Oklahoma during the 1920s, after oil was found on their land and the nation soon became the richest per capita in the world.

Those who dared to investigate the murders were also soon killed off,

Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro And Martin Scorsese Considering True Crime Tale

Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio working together on one film. It’s the sort of dream team you’d hope for, but doubt could ever happen, yet that is what Imperative Entertainment is aiming to bring to reality with the adaptation of true crime book Killers Of The Flower Moon: The Osage Murders And The Birth Of The FBI.

David Grann’s tome, which has just hit bookshelves, digs into a particularly dark chapter of American history. It chronicles what happened when members of the Osage Indian nation discovered oil beneath their land in the 1920s. They instantly became among the richest people in the world and all seemed to be going well for them, util they started to die under mysterious circumstances. Turns out a conspiracy had sprung up among wealthy landowners and oil barons elsewhere to have the new competition either killed, or to
