How Edgar Ramirez transformed himself into Gianni Versace

A few months before fashion designer Gianni Versace was murdered on the steps of his Miami Beach villa by serial killer Andrew Cunanan, then-20-year-old Edgar Ramirez visited his parents in the sun-kissed party city. “If you walked on Ocean Drive, you could feel the vitality and the energy,” the Venezuelan actor tells Alexa of those freewheeling days in 1997. “It was exhilarating, it was exuberant.”

Ramirez, now 40, is revisiting that glamorous — and tragic — time. The actor plays the legendary Italian couturier on FX’s 10-episode “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” premiering on Jan. 17.

It’s a departure for the square-jawed screen star, who has become a Hollywood go-to for variations on masculine archetypes: a deadbeat ex-husband opposite Jennifer

Man Accidentally Shoots Himself and Wife in Church While Discussing Recent Church Shooting

A husband and wife pair was accidentally shot in a Tennessee church after discussing church shootings with members of their place of worship.

Elder members of the First United Methodist Church in Tellico Plains got together for a Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, during which they talked about the Nov. 5 massacre in Sutherland Springs, Texas, where 25 people and an unborn child were killed.

When someone asked if any of the guests had brought a gun to their church, an unidentified man in his Eighties told the group, “I carry my handgun everywhere,” according to a retelling of the incident by Tellico Plains Police Chief Russ Parks as reported by multiple local news outlets.

Northwestern U. Professor Accused in Man’s Stabbing Death Turns Himself In: ‘Worst Mistake of My Life’

A Northwestern University associate professor and an Oxford University employee have turned themselves in after authorities searched for the duo for more than a week in connection with the stabbing death of a 26-year-old Chicago man, PEOPLE confirms.

Wyndham Lathem, 42, and 56-year-old Andrew Warren are facing murder charges in the death of Trenton Cornell-Duranleau, who was found stabbed to death on July 27.

Lathem, an associate professor of microbiology-immunology at Northwestern, turned himself in to authorities in Oakland, California, on Friday and has agreed to be extradited back to Chicago where he will plead not guilty to the first-degree murder charge, his attorney Adam Sheppard tells PEOPLE.

Warren was taken into San Francisco police custody a day later, a San Francisco Sheriff’s Department spokesperson tells PEOPLE. He surrendered as well, according to the Associated Press. According to the spokesperson, neither bail nor a court date have been set for

Mom of Boy Who Hanged Himself Over Alleged Prank Says, ‘I Don’t Wish It on Anyone or My Worst Enemy’

The mother of an 11-year-old Michigan boy who allegedly killed himself after a social media prank spoke out this week about the painful decision to remove her son from life support.

“I had to make the choice,” Katrina Goss, Tysen Benz’s mom, told Dr. Phil McGraw in a Monday interview on his show. “It was the hardest choice that I would ever have to make.”

She added, “I don’t even know how to describe it. I don’t wish it on anyone or my worst enemy. It was — it was horrible.”

Tyson hanged himself on March 14 after what Marquette County, Michigan, Prosecuting Attorney Matt Wiese has described to the Detroit Free Press as an Internet “hoax of somebody dying.” (PEOPLE’s email to Wiese on Monday was not immediately returned.)

Tysen was on life support for

11-Year-Old Boy Kills Himself After Alleged Social Media Prank — and Another Child Is Charged

Police say criminal charges have been brought against a juvenile in Michigan after an 11-year-old boy killed himself following what the boy’s mother claims was a social media prank.

Authorities in Marquette, Michigan, confirm that an unidentified juvenile is charged with malicious use of telecommunication services and using a computer to commit a crime after the boy was found unresponsive on March 14.

Marquette police declined to provide many details or identify either child involved, because of their age, saying only that the boy who died was “engaged in communication with another juvenile via social media prior to the incident.”

It was not immediately clear if the child who is charged has entered a plea.

However, Katrina Goss tells PEOPLE it was her son Tysen Benz who tried to kill himself that March day — though he did not die until this week.
