‘Law & Order True Crime’ Season 1, Episode 4: There’s the Rub

John Conte (Raphael Sbarge), another in a long line of experts brought in to analyze the boys, has a term for that: “idealizing his abuser.”

A new narrative begins to develop, and the motive begins to sharpen: Both boys tell their respective shrinks and social workers that they were afraid José would kill them. “Dad always threatened that — that he could kill us and get a new family,” Lyle says. It seems like a stretch, but the experts on-hand agree that victims of abuse, even two athletic young men, often have an exaggerated physical fear of their abusers. Any traces of doubt on Leslie’s team are erased when one of Leslie’s investigators, Cindy Erdelyi (Rya Kihlstedt), uncovers sexually explicit photos of Erik and Lyle in the family home, taken when they were young children.

‘Law & Order True Crime’ Season 1, Episode 3: Court TV

“If you knew Erik and Lyle, you would know that they are not spoiled,” Abramson tells the cameras. But even the boys’ family, watching at home, knows this doesn’t look good.

For we viewers of this series, however, the imaging is worse for Dr. Oziel, who has swiftly become the ascendant villain among a cast of lawyers, brats and killers. Judalon is an unmitigated disaster, and her testimony to police and in court contradicts his assertions at every turn. She’s clearly enjoying the media spotlight, which is growing ever hotter; Diane Sawyer has contacted her, and she’s thrilled. She is also told that she’ll be tossed out as a witness if she goes on TV.

But that can’t stop her from causing a stir in court. Her impossibly low-cut blouse notwithstanding (“Please ask her to stop flashing her impressive bosom at you,” Abramson begs the

Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders recap: ‘Episode 2’

The majority of the action in the second episode of Law Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders is divided between the detectives, who are working to build a case against the Menendez brothers, and the brothers themselves — how they’re coping and the tactics that ultimately seal their guilt in the eyes of the police. By the end of the hour, Lyle and Erik are officially in jail for the murder of their parents, and we’re finally getting into the “law” portion of Law Order. Here’s how all the pieces fall into place to propel us into the years of trials that will dominate the remainder of the show.

We continue to get glimpses at Leslie Abramson’s pre-Menendez life, and she goes above and beyond for her clients. She visits her client from the previous episode in jail after he’s beaten up and washes the blood off his face herself. She convinces

‘Law & Order True Crime’ Episode 2: No Surprises

So what does he do? After first pointing the detectives directly to Dr. Oziel, his therapist since the Calabasas burglaries, he confesses the murders to Oziel as soon as he gets a chance. To Lyle, who could hardly have been shocked, Erik later explains: “I had to tell somebody. I wanted to kill myself.”

You don’t say.

Or take Lyle. As the detectives learn from one of Lyle’s friends, Lyle had been dropping hints that he wanted to kill his father for a while — specifically for cheating on his mother. (Literally: “I could kill him for what he’s doing,” said in a way that sounds more like suggestion than exasperation.)

So what does he do? See above.

Then there’s Dr. Oziel’s mentally unstable lover, Judalon Smyth (an ageless and bewigged Heather Graham). After Erik’s confession, Dr. Oziel has Erik and Lyle come

‘Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders’ Episode 1: The Limits of Nostalgia

Based on the first episode, the eight-part “Law Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders” is still “Law Order,” and one’s feelings about it may depend on one’s feelings about the entire brand. Do you dig the corny one-liners? The grave nods between detectives? The plot twists you can set your watch to? The heedless confessions under pressure? (The overacting?) The multipart format promises more than that, but the pilot promises exactly that, which I’ll insist could be a good thing for fans. (Imagine my relief when, after inexplicably missing during several opportunities, that first “bong! bong!” to cue the scene-change finally sounded, more than 12 minutes in.) For non-fans, it’s too early to tell.

‘Law & Order True Crime’ Adds ‘Crazy Ex-Girlfriend’ Actor in Multi-Episode Arc (Exclusive)

Law Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders is adding another member to the prosecution.

Robin Thomas (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Zoo) has been tapped to play DDA David Conn in NBC’s upcoming anthology, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

The eight-episode first installment of the anthology is described as a “gripping in-depth dramatization” of the famed murder case that took America by storm in the early 1990s. When brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez were tried on national TV for brutally killing their parents in Beverly Hills on Aug. 20, 1989, their story became a nationwide obsession. Law Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders dives into the players, the crime and the media circus, detailing the day-to-day battles of the trial and unveiling the shocking truth of what really went down behind the scenes.

Thomas will appear in the final two episodes of the first season as a quietly ferocious lawyer who is assigned to prosecute the Menendez

Disappearance of Natalee Holloway Episode 2 Recap – People

Dave Holloway has been down this road before.

Countless tips and informants over the past 12 years have teased him with clues about what happened to his daughter, Natalee, who vanished in 2005 in Aruba while on a graduation trip with high school classmates from Mountain Brook, Alabama.

Holloway recently revealed that his latest, private 18-month investigation uncovered what have been identified as human skeletal remains on the island. He now awaits DNA testing to learn if those remains might be a match for Natalee.

The second episode of the six-part Oxygen series The Disappearance of Natalee Holloway, which aired Saturday, revealed yet another twist in his path to reach that point.

Holloway’s current investigation began with a phone call from a man named Gabriel, who told Holloway’s investigator, T.J. Ward, that he’d befriended a second man who claimed to have been involved in removing Natalee’s body from an
