Lifetime Set to Make Menendez Brothers Movie Starring Courtney Love

Britney Spears isn’t the only one getting a Lifetime movie this year; the Made-For-T.V. magnate will be making a movie focusing on the Menendez Brothers trial of the early 90s. The infamous Courtney Love is set to star as Kitty Menendez, the mother of Lyle and Erik.

The Menendez case is so incredibly sordid that it makes original Lifetime movies seem muted and subtle. Jose Enrique Menendez was Cuban immigrant who became a successful movie executive in Los Angeles. He married Mary Louise ‘Kitty’ Anderson and they had two sons, Erik and Lyle. In August of 1989, murdered both their parents. They attempted to make it look as if organized crime were involved by shooting both parents in the kneecap. The brothers then proceeded to dump the

Leonardo DiCaprio will star in and produce true crime drama The Black Hand

Leonardo DiCaprio’ next big film will be based on a forthcoming nonfiction book about the origins of the mafia in America, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Written by Stephen Talty and due out in April, The Black Hand: The Epic War Between a Brilliant Detective and the Deadliest Secret Society in American History follows the true story of Joseph Petrosino, an Italian detective chasing the perpetrators of a crime wave that hits New York City in the summer of 1903. The organization behind the crimes leaves a black hand symbol as its calling card.

Paramount had acquired the rights to the book, and DiCaprio is set to produce the cinematic adaptation via his Appian Way banner alongside The Gotham Group’s Ellen Goldsmith-Vein and Jeremy Bell. DiCaprio will also star in The Black Hand, presumably in the lead role as Detective Petrosino.

The Oscar-winning actor seems to have taken a

Rolling Meadows Cops Throw in Towel, Give Up Search For Serial Killer’s Victim in Joliet House: Source

JOLIET, IL — After searching the crawlspace of a not-very-large Joliet house for nearly a full week in hopes of locating the victim of a 1970s serial killer, the Rolling Meadows police have given up, a police source said.

The search of the house on Barber Lane for the remains of Michael Mansfield ended without the missing man’s recovery, the source said.

Mansfield vanished on New Year’s Eve 1975. A classmate from Lincoln College, Russell Smrekar, reportedly confessed on his deathbed to killing Mansfield.

At the time of his death, Smrekar, a former Joliet resident, was in prison for killing a Lincoln couple in 1976. He also reportedly confessed, just before he died, to killing a second Lincoln woman whose body was never found.

A family who lived in the house from 1974 until about five years ago was related to Smrekar. Smrekar’s mother and the mother living in the

Lady Gaga won’t be playing Donatella Versace on TV

Despite reports, Lady Gaga will not be playing Donatella Versace in the upcoming third season of FX’s American Crime Story, which will explore the 1997 murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace.

In fact, when asked by Variety, show creator Ryan Murphy said that casting Lady Gaga as Donatella was never even really a discussion.

Speaking to a small group of reporters at the Television Critics Association winter press tour in Pasadena, California, Murphy was asked if the superstar would be playing the fashion icon. He simply responded, “No.”

Asked if Lady Gaga was ever in talks to play Donatella, Murphy told Variety, “Not really. She’s a friend. But she’s very busy this next year – she’s doing Super Bowl and then she’s doing A Star Is Born and I believe that she’s going on tour. And when you’re going to do a show like Versace, it’s a five-month commitment, it’s a very big

EXCLUSIVE: ‘Killing Fields’ Detective Says True-Crime Docuseries …

“At first, I was
nervous. I didn’t know what to expect and was afraid that we might be portrayed
in a bad light,” Major Ronald Herbert, head of the Criminal Investigation
Division, tells ET about Discovery Channel’s true-crime docuseries, Killing Fields, coming to his Louisiana
Parish to reinvestigate cold cases in the area.

However, his biggest
fear turned out to be the exact opposite as the show, now airing season two, has
brought extra attention not only to the cold cases, but has shed light on how
competent the authorities of Iberville Parish are. The reinvestigation into the
two cold cases featured on the show, Herbert says, has demonstrated the
importance of the team’s jobs and how far technology has advanced since Curtis “Cochise”
Smith went missing in 1991 and later, in 1997, when former Louisiana State
University student Eugenie
