‘Evil Genius’ Trailer: The Duplass Brothers’ Latest Netflix True Crime Series Looks at the 2003 ‘Pizza Bomber’

One afternoon in August 2003 in Erie, Pa., a man entered a bank with a bomb attached to his neck. As the new Netflix series “Evil Genius: The True Story of America’s Most Diabolical Bank Heist” is looking to show, that was only the beginning.

Following the recent success of “Wild Wild Country,” “Evil Genius” is the latest Mark and Jay Duplass-produced series to make its way to Netflix this spring. Told in four parts, the series follows the events of that day through the subsequent trial, from the police’s efforts to thwart the plot as it was happening to the hunt for the actual person responsible.

Netflix Evil Genius Trailer Released – Today’s News: Our Take | TV …

It’s only been a few weeks since Wild Wild Country debuted on Netflix, but the streaming service is already preparing to drop yet another addictive, true crime docuseries that may be the perfect remedy for when you finally tire of talking about the Rajneeshees’ shocking escalation from meditation to attempted murder.

Evil Genius: The True Story of America’s Most Diabolical Bank Heist is produced by the brothers behind Wild Wild Country, Jay and Mark Duplass. But rather than focus on another cult, Evil Genius dives into the extraordinary story behind the 2003 “pizza bomber heist,” in which a pizza deliveryman walked into a bank with a bomb locked around his neck. The explosive eventually detonated while the man was in custody and the case generated extensive media attention, particularly as the bizarre details and motives behind the crime came to light.

‘Pose’: Watch the Trailer for Ryan Murphy’s History-Making FX Drama

FX on Thursday unveiled the first full-length trailer and premiere date for Ryan Murphy’s history-making drama Pose.

Pose looks at the juxtaposition of several segments of life and society in 1980s New York: the rise of the luxury Trump-era universe, the downtown social and literary scene and the ball culture world. The series will premiere Sunday, June 3 at 9 p.m.

Toplined by frequent Murphy collaborator Evan Peters, Kate Mara and James Van Der Beek, Pose features the biggest cast of transgender actors in series-regular roles as well as the largest recurring LGBTQ cast ever for a scripted U.S. TV series. The five trans actors are MJ Rodriguez, Indya Moore, Dominique Jackson, Hailie Sahar and Angelica Ross, with each one playing authentic transgender characters.

“The show is about the search for being authentic, about creating opportunities,” Murphy told reporters in January. “We’re past an era of straight men playing these roles. It’s time to think differently and offer

Trailer out for American Animals film about Transy book heist …

The trailer for “American Animals,” a true-crime film based on the 2004 book heist at Transylvania University, was released Wednesday and is already adding to the buzz the film generated at the Sundance Film Festival in January.

Cinema Blend complimented the trailer for its aesthetic, tension and unique take on college-based movies.

“True crime is compelling because it can shine a light on the horrors and inequities of the world around us, frighten us or just flat out flabbergast us with how something so ridiculous could have actually happened,” Nick Evans wrote. “’American Animals’ looks like it falls into the latter category. The new trailer for the film looks sexy and dangerous and far stranger than fiction.”

The trailer asserts that “This is not based on a true story” …. “This happened.”

Watch Trailer for Oxygen’s Special About Aileen Wuornos – The Wrap

Oxygen’s new “Snapped Notorious” special about convicted serial killer Aileen Wuornos questions whether the “damsel of death” was a “deranged killer” or a “victim.”

Wuornos confessed to killing six men, but said it was self-defense. The jury ultimately convicted her on six counts of first degree murder.

Wuornos — who was memorably played by Charlize Theron in her Oscar-winning movie “Monster” — was sentenced to death, and died by lethal injection in October 2002.

In the trailer for the special, experts go back and forth about Wuornos’ unique case. One expert in the trailer noted that her past as a prostitute was used in the trial, but the past of one of her victims, who was convicted of breaking into a woman’s home with the intent to rape her, was ignored.

“Did

A New Trailer for The Assassination of Gianni Versace Introduces Andrew Cunanan’s First Victims

FX just released the intense trailer for next week’s episode of The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story. It teases the episode’s focus on Andrew Cunanan’s first and second victims, Jeffrey Trail and David Madson.

Australian actor Cody Fern plays Madson, who was a 33-year-old architect and ex-boyfriend of Cunanan (Darren Criss). In real life, Cunanan allegedly called Madson, “the love of my life.”

“Are you going to leave me?” Cunanan asks Madson in the trailer, which also introduces Finn Wittrock as Jeffrey Trail, a former U.S. naval officer who was a friend of both Cunanan and Madson. “He knows about us,” Madson warns Trail, implying that Cunanan’s jealousy of Madson and Trail’s relationship may have spurred the killer to begin his murder spree.

The trailer opens with a body bag before cutting to police questioning

A New Assassination of Gianni Versace Trailer Depicts the Designer Coming Out as Gay

The Assassination of Gianni Versace returns for a second episode this week, but FX is already teasing more moments from the new season. Notably, this preview shows the titular designer’s decision to publicly come out as gay in a joint interview with his longtime partner, Antonio D’Amico.

The footage teases Versace choosing to arrange an interview to openly discuss his sexuality. It’s a brave decision, but his sister Donatella tries to dissuade him. “You have forgotten how ugly the world can be,” she tells him, clad Versace’s iconic brocade and butterfly prints.

Gianni answers with a question: “Is the brand of Versace braver than the man?”

Later, we see him introducing D’Amico to the reporter interviewing him. “We have been together for 13 years,” Versace says. “I would like to conduct the interview together.”
