Fugitive Grandma Accused of Killing Husband and Lookalike Woman Is Arrested in Texas

The search for fugitive 56-year-old grandmother Lois Riess ended last night in South Texas with her arrest at a restaurant on South Padre Island.

Police officials in Minnesota — where she is alleged to have killed her husband last month before going on the run — confirm to PEOPLE that Riess is in custody.

Riess was tracked down by the U.S. Marshal’s Service with the assistance of South Padre Island police, PEOPLE learns.

Riess is accused of killing her husband and then traveling to Florida, where she allegedly killed a woman who looked like her so she could steal the victim’s identity.

On March 23, investigators found the body of her 54-year-old husband, David Riess, inside their Blooming Prairie home riddled with bullet wounds.

Ala. Husband Is Accused of Killing Wife Found Partially Naked Outside Home — But Victim’s Mom Defends Him

An Alabama man accused of murdering his wife has an unlikely champion for his defense: the victim’s mother, who insists the suspect was a good man and a loving husband.

A 19-year-old neighbor on her way to work found Kathleen “Kat” West’s body face-down in the street across from the couple’s Calera, Alabama, home at about 5 a.m. on Jan. 13.

Kat, 42, was naked except for a sports bra, bleeding from the head, and had her cell phone nearby under a green liquor bottle that appeared to be intentionally placed there, according to witness descriptions of the scene reported by AL.com.

Charging documents say she died Jan. 12 after being hit in the head with a Lucid Absinthe bottle. The bottle had Kat’s blood and a single set of fingerprints that authorities allege belonged to 44-year-old Jeff West, Kat’s husband and the father of the couple’s then 12-year-old daughter,

Incest Suspect Accused of Impregnating Daughter Kills Her and Their Infant Son in Murder-Suicide

Authorities say Steven Pladl, a 42-year-old accused of having a child with his 20-year-old daughter, killed their infant son and then her and her adoptive father earlier this week. Finally, he killed himself.

The apparent murder-suicide comes only months after the case was first brought to light.

In January, Pladl was arrested for allegedly impregnating his biological daughter, Katie Pladl, whom he placed for adoption when she was a baby. They reunited two years ago.

According to warrants obtained by PEOPLE, Pladl’s ex-wife — Katie’s biological mother — first notified police of the possible relationship last May. She had read an entry in one of Katie’s journals in which the girl discussed being pregnant with her biological father’s love child.

Steven and his wife placed Katie for adoption when he was 22 and she was 17. The couple stayed together until divorcing last summer, according to court records.

When Katie turned 18 in 2016, she

‘Pedophile hunter’ mom travels to Mexico to find fugitive accused of molesting her son

Crouched on the floorboards of a rental car in a supermarket parking lot, Lydia Lerma spotted her prey and started to cry.

She’d found Andrew Vanderwal in Ciudad Cuauhtemoc, Mexico — 451 days after police say he confessed to molesting her 6-year-old son under a Denver Broncos blanket in her ex-husband’s Fort Collins home.

From her hiding spot in Mexico, she saw two boys lounging in the open trunk of Vanderwal’s Ford Expedition.

Lerma longed to kill him.

“The only way I can explain it is, I hunt,” said the Fort Collins mother of three. “And when you’re hunting and you see an animal, there’s that adrenaline rush — can I take this shot? Can I do this?”

Adrenaline and fury danced in her veins. Fury at Vanderwal — her son called him “Uncle Drew” — the man who authorities say fled the country in early 2017 to escape allegations of child sex
