Killings of Bloomington mother, three kids featured in true crime series

BLOOMINGTON — The 1983 slaying of a mother and her three children in a quiet Bloomington neighborhood is the focus of an upcoming television episode.

“The Darkest Night,” set to air April 7 at 7 p.m., starts the new season of the series “Homicide” on the Investigation Discovery Network, an ABC affiliate. The show will be repeated the same night at 10 p.m.

The hourlong show looks at the deaths of Susan Hendricks and her children, Becky, Grace and Benjamin, and the state’s efforts at two trials to convict David Hendricks, the husband and father of the victims.

ABC News senior editorial producer David Perozzi said a team led by producer Scott Fraser “did a lot of door knocking and old-fashioned reporting” for the show, talking with neighbors, lawyers, relatives and journalists who shared their recollections.

“People really remembered this case. It really

Tune in Tonight for March 31, 2018 – Waco Tribune

Nothing exceeds like excess, particularly when everything and everybody is for sale. That is the moral of the true-life documentary “Operation Odessa” (8 p.m., Showtime, TV-MA). Only the fact that “Odessa” is based on real events keeps it from seeming like some overeager script writer’s fever dream.

Its protagonists step out of the pages of spy novels or movie thrillers. They hail from three underworlds steeped in legend: the Russian mob, the Miami cocaine scene and the Cuban government. Together, these men would waltz into the free-for-all chaos of post-Soviet Moscow and broker the sale of a Russian submarine to a South American drug cartel for a cool $35 million. A must for fans of audacious heist movies.

  • As it has since 1973, ABC commemorates Easter weekend with an airing of the four-hour 1956 biblical epic “The Ten Commandments” (6 p.m., TV-G).

The network doesn’t continue a 45-year tradition with a 62-year-old movie

The Score: Senate Hopefuls, True Crime, Big Chicken, and Dead Center

Nick Freitas Corey Stewart EW Jackson UVAThis week’s episode of The Score features interviews with two of the three candidates who have qualified for the ballot in the June 12 GOP Senate primary in Virginia.

I spoke with Nick Freitas and Corey Stewart after this past week’s debate held on the Grounds of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. Those interviews are preceded by a look at how the debate came to be planned with Adam Kimelman, chairman of the UVA College Republicans. (I hope to have E.W. Jackson as a guest on The Score between now and the first week of June.)

At this year’s Virginia Festival of the Book in Charlottesville, I had the opportunity to meet and interview
